Freeing up hiring managers to focus on people,

not paperwork

How an AI assistant qualified candidates, booked interviews,

and surfaced top matches so employers could make faster, more confident hires.

Background

Jobcase is a platform dedicated to empowering and advocating for workers.

Over 100 million members connect on Jobcase to find jobs, share advice, and navigate the world of work. It's a two-sided platform:

  • Members use it to manage their job search and access a support-oriented community

  • Employers use it to post roles, engage candidates, and manage hiring

This case study focuses on improving the employer experience, where we designed an AI assistant to reduce hiring friction.

Problem

Employers were stuck doing repetitive, manual hiring tasks with no smart tools to help.

Small business employers using Jobcase often struggled with repetitive hiring tasks like screening, scheduling, and follow-up. They lacked tools that could offer intelligent automation while keeping them informed and in control.

Hypothesis

An AI assistant that acts independently while keeping employers informed can speed hiring and improve candidate quality.

If we design an AI assistant that can independently screen candidates, coordinate interviews, and communicate through natural, accessible interfaces, while giving employers visibility and control, we can reduce time-to-hire, increase engagement, and improve hiring outcomes for resource-limited teams.

Research

Employers wanted automation they could trust, control, and understand.

We ran tests with 9 employers through UserTesting.com to validate value props, scheduling flows, and their comfort with AI autonomy.

  • Employers wanted visibility and optional override, not full automation

  • Email and web were preferred for professionalism and clarity

  • Scheduling needed to be fast and low effort

  • The assistant's tone needed to feel human, not robotic

These findings shaped how we approached transparency, fallback logic, assistant voice, and scheduling defaults.

Solution

I designed an assistant that could draft, screen, schedule, score, and communicate across modalities.

Candidate scoring dashboard

Visual system for AI to tag and score applicants based on fit.

AI Generated Job Descriptions

Streamlined the job posting process by using AI to generate comprehensive, tailored job descriptions based on minimal employer input.

AI Candidate screening chat

Created a conversational interface where the AI qualified applicants through chat before offering interview options.

Scheduling the interview

After passing the AI screening, the job candidate is prompted to schedule an interview with the hiring manager.

Results

Delivered a complete AI hiring assistant prototype that set the standard for future agentic AI workflows at Jobcase

Validated the prototype with 9 of 9 employers.

Every participant confirmed the assistant would significantly improve their hiring outcomes, building confidence in the product direction.
